Come on poor show, don't give up until last month I had no ambition to travel - but now I'm desperate to go.So far got a rucksack off ebay cheap and trailshoes and jacket. It's easy don't give up.

I'm in the process of planning my route and getting the necessary information

Don't give up you'll totally reget it (says the man who is only planning an exploration)

And to your earlier question no haven't booked my Steps hoping to be away but otherwide I'd totally go

"... I've given up on the idea already. Clearly I'm destined not to travel..."

===========================

That may be true, but at the very least you should consider a "normal" trip for a first time traveller instead of jumping head-first into the insanity that is India - especially for months and months. Frankly, for someone with your attitude and experience that trip makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever.

Consider this instead: Try a short 4 week trip to a place like Thailand. It's still completely foreign to what you're used to, but at the same time it's not intimidating because it has a very extensive backpacker infrastructure and it's covered VERY well by a multitude of guide books and travel forums. It's the perfect place for a nervous first time traveller to acquire a little experience.

At the end of a short(ish) trip you may indeed find that travel is something that doesn't suit you, or you may discover a whole new side of your personality that really enjoyed the experience. You'll never know until you try.

Good luck no matter what happens.

Cheers,
Terry
