Who's in Bangkok or Chiang Mai right now?

Travel Forums Asia Who's in Bangkok or Chiang Mai right now?

Hey everyone!

Me and my girlfriend booked a 10 week trip a while ago and it's now only 2 weeks away. I've been keeping an eye on the news about the flood situation in Bangkok but I'm not sure of the current status. We're flying to Bangkok on December 1 and have 2 nights booked (76 rambuttri road, phra nakorn 10200, bangkok) before we're flying north to Chiang Mai. If anyone is in either of those places right now, how are they? Also, is the hotel I've booked in a bad situation with regard to flooding? If so, I might look into cancelling. I've read so many different news articles and they say different things. I think the best way is to ask a fellow traveller.

Thanks in advance!

Most of Bangkok has gone without flooding. Banglamphu, the area you are staying, saw some flooding, but has been dry for quite some time.

You will have to change money at the airport you arrive in anyway. In Thailand you must use Thai baht for taxi rides, bus rides, etc.

In Thailand most of the money changing is done by real banks not some private dodgy money changer. The rates change every working day. Most of the banks have rates about the same - for the same time and the same date! Different day maybe a different rate - either a little up or a little down.
