hey donny going solo will be great, your get to meet so many people who are in the same boat. I'm really nervous about going alone but know it will be an incredible experince.

Graeme go in march then gives you a a little bit more time to save, its a good idea about stopping in Thailand, I had thought about that. Will prob do that on the way back, I don't feel too comfortable going to thailand on my own before going anywhere else. All the best with the planning x

Hi folks, been reading your posts and getting excited to travel can't wait. Thinking to go start of march regardless. Friend not able to come now so going solo, nice to know others are in the same vote. Im a friendly outgoing socialble 24 year old looking to book flight with sta travel.

I know that thailand is so much cheaper than oz even so Ill have to work for sometime to fund the trip.

Be great to hear from someone, much excitment.

At first I was bricking it a bit about going it solo, but I think it also has it advantages - in that you can pack up and go when and where you want, not only when leaving home but also when in country!

Hey there,
I'm also heading through Australia solo at this time! It's part of a bigger trip:

But am landing in Melbourne at the start of March and have two months to make it to Darwin.

Not sure about where I'm staying and bits yet, but could be around to take in some sights with a buddy if you're scared.

Travelling solo is the best - tbh, i don't think i could do a whole trip with someone.

Hi Everyone

Also planning to go to Oz in the new year, thinking around March. Want to head to Melbourne and see where the journey takes me from there. I'm going on my own, coming from South Africa. How do hostels work? It seems that they are more economical if one shares with other, but what if you are going alone? Do you then end up in a room with total strangers? Suppose that would be an interesting way to meet new people... Any comments welcome.
