hey people-it's only me...AGAIN!!

Before i take the BIG step in booking my ticket to Oz i think that firstly i should take a little trip alone to test the waters...and what a better place than Ireland-i know absolutely nothing about the place but it will be very cheap for me to get there and i've heard great things-that's as far as my knowledge goes!!

I am only considering going away for a weekend...just need some advice on where to go...somewhere laid back and peaceful...bit of shopping...somewhere to meet people! I have been looking into Galway-looks good so far.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Jas

hey jas

i can actually devote some time to this now unlike earlier on in the chatroom! frequent boss attacks! apologies.

anyway, yes, Galway is great! It's one of the friendliest places in the country. The pubs are among the best in Ireland (actually Galway is nearly all pubs...)

There are lots of weird and interesting shops down the little side streets where you can squander your pennies. It's right by the sea so if you want to go swimming/kill some seagulls/collect seashells you can head out to Salthill.

Further afield is COnnemara - NOT TO BE MISSED!! If you have the time take a boat trip out to the Aran Islands (just off the coast) and stay for a night. You'll meet lots backpackers out there in the summer and the pubs stay open til all hours because there's only one guard to police the three islands!

Let me know if you need more info Jas and I can tell you where to stay/what are the best places to go to meet up with other backpackers and so on.

Galway is really small and cosy and you are guaranteed a good wknd there!

Hope that helps
Ev

Oh yeh-the B.A on the chat room-oh it gets ya laughing!!

You know what i was on a Galway website and there was a webcam of a reception area-its updated like something chronic -about every 3 seconds-i just found it quite funny!!

But anyway-thats great Eve! oh i'll be bombarding you with lots of little questions-hey i should drive while i'm there-and can park on your drive-LOL!!! see i can't even stop making jokes about that myself!

Be cool to meet up with ppl while i'm there!-but first ive got to make decisions and get a ticket!

word of advice: dont go by anything you see on a website in ireland. we're not that web-oriented here yet! looking at Irish websites would not inspire you to visit!

The best tip for Ireland is to leave plenty of time to get to where you want to go as the roads are pretty slow going ... especially in the country.
