Thing is if u do the 3 months worth of fruit picking it rural u get your second year visa that's why most people do it but if u don't want ur second year visa u don't have to worry about where you work or what you do u can only be employed by one employer i think its three or six months

Hello guys and girls..i went thailand for two weeks in april and spent about 1000 pound and that was going out every night for drinks, day trips, 3 meals a day 600 would last a month if you cut these down..also that included flights to each island aswell.

Hope that helps...i am also in the same boat as everyone else. i have my working holiday visa, i am 30 but i am worried about the job situation in australia as i have heard some horror stories in the last couple of days about people being there 2 months but no work!!

Can anyone put my mind at rest!:)

hey everyone, I just got my years working visa for OZ, planning on going in march but haven't got my flights yet. Looking at STA flights aswell. I'm going on my own tad worried about going solo but know I'm gonna meet loads of people there. Anyone else going around this time gonna start in Melbourne and work my way up east coast.

Snap im 30 as well! I imagine the job sitch in cities like sydney and melbourne maybe a bit hit and miss as they are the main places people start their trips. My mate is confident that i wont have a problem finding a job in Perth. She said theres alot of money to be made as well! Also one of my other friends who is travelling out there at the mo disnt have a problem finding a job in Darwin. Maybe its an idea to start somewhere like that? I know a few people in Sydney as well so i'll message them and let you know.

I was going mar/apr time but due to saving ive had to put it off until jun/jul!

Where did you both get your visa's from and how much were they? Think i'll be getting mine at the end of the month once ive got xmas out the way x

Well i was going to head to Perth in March time. So hopefully your friend's advice will be correct. On the Visa front if you go through the australian government site the visa will cost 185 pound and you will get an email confirmation back within 48hrs, which you just got to print off a number on entry. Very easy to fill in, standard health, crimminal record etc...

I think i am going to break up the journey though as i went thailand for two weeks last April for my 30th and i think a week/10 days before Oz is deffo on the cards. STA travel have said i can break it up and i will probably go with them, they are really helpful.

With regards to bank accounts and tax codes there is a site called Jobs4travellers who sets it up for free and you collect the card/account stuff from a bank in which ever place your going.

looking forward to going its just nice to hear off someone my own age...not like i act it.:)

Ok cool! I'll defo buy it through them.

Im want to do Thailand, cambodia etc but will have to go later on as i wont have enough money for Oz if i go there first. Thinking of getting an office job (pays really well apparently) to save enough money to go there xmas/new yr then back to Oz for last few mths of my visa. Do STA allow free flight changes? going to see them in a couple of weeks to get a rough estimate of flights. Also been told about a place called Round The World Experts so i'll try them as well.

Wicked! i'll have a look at that site! Dont really want to have to pay anyone to do all that to be honest. Need to get it all done as cheap as poss!

Im more excited about it now than i was. Its good to see im not the only one who's going out there on my own! lol neither do i!
