My visa was £240, so deffo go for that. dam got ripped off :(

Hoping to buy a camper van so i can travel round the east coast n save money on hostels. Not sure yet if this is a good idea

Thailand is so cheap a few days chilling in Koh Samui after working and saving in the uk wont break the bank. 600/700 pound can last a month so a few days wont hurt plus it will break up the long haul flight.

Thailand is clean, easy to get round and safe whatever thought you have of the place change it..Bangkok is no worse than any other city centre on a sat night.

STA and Round the world seem the best options for flights, you would have to go and speak to someone Becki about changes etc. If you are going Perth becki i have found some decent job agencies and hostels in the Northbridge area, which i have heard is pretty good.

Add me on here Becki if you intend on going Perth...always good to find out more info on the place.

Hun i would have probably paid that if i hadnt found this site! Think its going to save me money getting advice off everyone else on here! ha! I wouldnt mind getting a camper van but its gonna be cost of that Vs hostels and busing it! i guess its the whole backpacking experience if you do it the hostel/bus way isn't it.

yeah that's true! i did have concerns about going straight there without staying somewhere for a fews days. think id go insane if i did! ha! its just going there on my own that scares me a little. Sounds daft i know since im going oz on my own!

i will do. I'm going to spend some time at the weekend checking out sites and that. Have you looked at the jobs on there?

Ok i'll do it now. not sure how to do it though! lol

Yeah one of the girls in the STA travel branch Leicester said why dont you treat yourself to a break first..and i went through Thailand last April and it needs to be done for a few days.epic place.

The going on your own bit does worry me, but more not finding a job even more...but i have heard an update CV, positive attitude and being flexible is the main key.

I think the first few days its going to be looking for jobs first/ somewhere to stay is down the list a little..no money coming in you can seriously go through your money in the cities as i know its not cheap. This is my biggest concern. But i need to be there around middle of March. But that date is flexible. The more i look in to it the more money i think i need??

I have also seen travel insurance for about 250/275 pound for a year which is also essential.

I am helping Becki !! :)

Haha yes you are! Sounds like you've done your research! Something i seriously need to do!

Omg i never even thought about Cv's or insurance! I got a week day off soon so i'll pop into Brum then and see them. Need to add everything up! Really wanted to be out there end march so im away for my bday but that wont be happening unless i win the lotto! ha!

You just going to go Thailand and Oz or you going anywhere else?

Well i think Thailand just for a few days to break up the long haul flight. If for example I struggle to find work in Oz and start to run out of cash i will apply for the New Zealand visa which you can do even when your away on your travels, plus its easier to get..not like the aussie one was hard. I heard back within 48hrs for the working holiday visa.

Once gone i will refuse to come back to the UK so New Zealand is back up at first, but if Oz goes well then New zealand will be after. This is what the girl said to me at STA travel. she went new zealand and it looks just as good.

CV is very important so is insurance. I got injured skiing in France a few years ago on a ski season and my bill was over 25,000 grand..thank F**k i had insurance.

The reason i have done so much planning. i dislocated my shoulder playing football and have been off work for 6 weeks and in that time i have decided to ditch my job at 30 and go Oz!! So it must be fate!!

Dont worry about money too much i have heard people with 500 quid in their back pocket and managed ok..but then you need a job pretty quick when you get there.

Is it just Oz you are looking at going?

Ive been told New zealand is nicer than oz. Think you can get a working visa up to 35yrs.

Cant remember last time i did a cv! worked for the same company for past 8yrs and every job ive had there ive just been given! ha! yeah i'll defo get insurance! knowing my luck ill fall of sydney bridge or something!

Nah. the plan is Oz, Asia, back to Oz then New zealand and fiji then if im not missing family and friends too much straight on to do a yr or 2 in new zealand! They're the only reason i would ever come back apart from money obviously! Cant wait to do Fiji! a week in paradise is my idea of heaven!

haha shame fate made ya dislocate ya shoulder though! OUCH! well i'm supposed to be moving over to warwick this year so thought i gotta leave where im working now so thought i may as well have time out before i move but if i enjoy it as much as im hoping i will i really cant see me coming back after a year!

Well a CV should be easy to do then if you have worked for the same company for 8 years. Deffo insurance..as you can tell i am accident prone! Not sure why i contacted a football club in perth for a season but they have said they will help find work aswell.

Sounds like a good plan...Asia is truely stunning. I have also heard good things about New Zealand plus you right about the visa situation there. Fiji would also be very nice. I think why you are that way you have got to see most places if you can.

I think if i find a couple of jobs on the way so i am not using all my own savings i will be happy. Flights are going to cost anything from 650-800, insurance 250..first couple of nights 100 so round about a grand i think or just over. Not bothered about what i pack i know working abroad clothes get destroyed by suncream and bad washing so not much new gear will be bought.

So it must be fate then if they want you to move to Warwick and you have looked at Oz. Hope your plans come off!!
