Hey Angie!
Ya its casual work im looking for just something to keep the cash flow going! Definetly want to do the east coast and if I have enough money at the end hopefully spend some time in Thailand too as it seems pretty cheap. Have you travelled solo before? I f we find ourselves in the same spot at some stage we should party!

Just wondering if anyone has advice on flights to australia, wanting to go in March 2012 then on root back after about 10 months maybe visit thiland and such but dont really know what is a good flight website for things like this? Most flight sights dont have an open return suggestion or even let me see prices for flights back 2013. Any advice?

Definitely squeeze in bit of Thailand before if you can! In squeezing in a bit of Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia before hitting oz. Can easily get by on £500 a month in Asia, and that's with change. Danger being is that oz is really expensive compared to Asia and the uk and it will come as a shock. Obviously it's all relative so once you have found a job there (minimum wage about £12 an hour!) your be able to save to travel back home through Asia. As for flights....worth spending a bit and going with a decent airline. I flew to Malaysia with air Asia....13 hours on a budget airline wasn't that fun! Spent an extra £150 and flew to Bangkok with drinks, good food, sweet films and most importantly loadsa leg room....and those airbus a380s are pretty swish!
