I'm from England and I used STA travel agents- if you're under 26 it's deffo the cheapest to use because you get a discount. You can also pay £50 to get a multi change pass where you can change your flight (either there or back) for free, three times. Now that i'm in Aus it's so nice that I don't have to worry about having a flight home, but also having the freedom to change it- I would deffo recommend :-)
I flew with Malaysian Airlines which were the cheapest, but I suppose that changes all of the time. They were good to fly with though, and the stop over was only a couple of hours thank god!!
Hope thats a bit hepful x
I'm going traveling the 2nd Feb next year. I booked through trailfinders travel agent thought they were great. I got Dublin to Bangkok for 2 nights with 2 nights in a 4* hotel, then Bangkok to the islands Koh Sumi & Ko Phang for 6 nights, then back to Bangkok to fly to Sydney on 15th Feb & its a return so I return from Melbourne to Dublin in Feb 2013 it was all €1,510.
Air Asia were cheap as chips last year. They may be getting a little more expensive but you can fly with them to asia - kuala lumpur say and then travel jetstar (a cheap Aussie airline) to Oz. It can take a couple of days but it's cheap!
When I was booking I found SkyScanner.net very useful - shows the cheapest options online, found them to be cheaper than STA.
However, you will end up with a stopover or two!
