Hi , It says on the immi website that you need $5000 to get in to the country . Will they only accept $5000 and no less that that amount? As I havent quite got exactly $5000 but more like $4600.

Hi SB
I didn't realise that you needed that much money to gain entry into Australia "assuming you mean that country as you don't specify"

Does the same apply to all countries, that your required to have a minimum amount of money with you before you enter. What kind of paperwork do they ask for to prove this?

From a now rather worried would-be-traveller + 1

But surely it would depend on the length of your stay-it's only to prove that you can support yourself!??

Hiya,

I have just applied for my working holiday visa and It says you need to show a bank statement with £2000 pounds in it or more. This is the amount of money the australian embassay believe you would need to be able to live for 1 year. " who are they kidding " other than this proof that you have a return ticket, so they know you will have enough to leave the country after your 12 months is up.

Hope that helps

Caz :)

phew, thanks for that. Was thinking there for a minute that we may need to save up extra money to have sat in a bank account in order to gain entry.

You will be fine, you have $4600 AND your credit so no problem.
I applied for my WHV on-line and didn't get asked for any proof, also when I entered Oz in December and went through Immigration and to get my visa in my passport I wasn't asked to show any proof!
So yes, I am sure you ill be fine!

Hi, how long are u staying in Australia for? If you are going for a year, like i am, best thing is to forget the credit card its not real money, second, dont do it in halfs, im saving over £4000 to go there, no including airfare.

And £1900 ($4600AUD) will not keep you going for that long, maybe a month if you are good with money. If you are going for a year dont even think about a credit card.
