What effect has your birth order had on your personality?

For me, being the first born meant I had to go through all the "firsts" when my parents were still extraordinary anal about everything. I think that confounded my already shy nature, although to be fair it has also meant I've always had to find new and more intersting ways to conquer it.

I think that's why I like to travel so much. It's like stepping into a new skin - or stepping out of the old one to become your full-fledged self.

None. I am not a spoiled rotten youngest child used to getting everything he wants and the envy on my older sisters at all.

I've never really known where I come in my family.

In the natural order of things, I'm the middle child - one older sibling and one younger, so yes I have the varipus manifestations of the Middle Child Complex.

However, as my older brother is autistic, I was the first to get pocket money, first to get into trouble with teachers, first to go to college, first to get a job....so in a way I was the Test Child (you know, the one the parents make all the mistakes on etc...so they can make a better go of the next child. LOL)

Oh god, I'm so messed up. Help me, please!

Being an "only" child, what do you think?!

i am the oldest. and i do believe i was the test child. my parents wanted me to be so perfect, and i was the complete opposite. i would run around breaking stuff, losing everything, never doing homework, and being content and dirty riding my mountain bike with my friends with a bloody knee. i rebelled constantly.. even though i didnt know what i was rebelling against. i had the loudest voice, the best madeup games and i love to make people laugh, and cry. i always challenged myself to run faster, jump farther and play every single game to death. i drove my parents nuts. i had the best time being young.

First-born. Like tway, my parents went anal on me and I basically drove them nuts. Some of those common first-born characteristics you read on websites, like striving to be the best, being responsible etc, all happened to me. I grew up pretty resentful of how anal my parents went on me.

Not much-although my parents would have you think that i think that i'm 'hard-done-by'!!! seeing as i'm the middle man (or middle woman!) the youngest gets spoilt and the oldest gets all the help-being the 'first' to do things!

Didums!!

I'm an only child. I had the pleasure of the anal-retentive parents (like first borns) but I at least had the luxury of being spoiled (like youngest kids).

I have a lot of cousins who are four and five years older than me. Now, it doesn't make much of a difference, but back then, I was shunned from the group. Not fun, let me tell you.

What a tangled web we weave.

Cheers,
Katie ;)
