Hey Guys,

I'm 23, English and planning to Tour America from September time.

I was thinking like maybe getting a car/campervan and driving the cross country.

I dont mind where to start or finish yet but deffo want to be home for Christmas 2012!!

I was also considering going back through europe on the way home to England but as yet my plans are not set as i am currently in Australia and will be leaving here end of august.

If anyone is interested in doing the same sort of thing let me know as would love to share the adventure with someone else like minded as well.

Speak soon
Nicky

Hi Nicky. Let me say in advanced: Welcome to America!

There have been a number of threads here in the past that may give you some ideas on a schedule etc. I may suggest you scan a few of them rather than having us repeat ourselves. I will just reiterate that you need to plan for the weather. Anywhere from Virginia north will be pretty cold during the winter months. Try to stick to the south from Dec-March. By the same token a woman from the UK will find August in Georgia to be like entering the gates of Hell. So keep north during the hot summer months.

You can no doubt rent a van and fix it up with an air matress/sleeping bags for cheap overnights. But be aware that you probably need to rent a camp site and they are not as cheap as they used to be, around $25-$30 a night I believe. But it's sure a lot safer than a Walmart parking lot.

Hello Nicky,

me and my friend are planning to go from late July to Mid-late September. You can find our post on the North America page.

I you want to meet up and get a lift with us for abit that would be no problem at all. The more the merrier.

Where are you planning to travel? We are aiming to start in Newyork and then end up in San Fran. Sort of doing a U shape journey, lol.
