SMILeS has indicated that this thread is about Italy

well i'm leaving soon, on my first geart adventure out on my own... i'm packing up all my life into a few small bags and moving to Italy!

my first order of buisness will be finding a place to stay, then finding work ... then ofcourse, i'll be having to learn to speek Italian AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!! heh

i'm a friendly one, you may have guessed, and i love trying just about everything at least once...

next fall i hope to be going to the University Of The Science Of Gastronomie in Aregenza Di Polenzo (heh i think that's how it's spelled) but until then i'll be searching Italy for new experiences!

It depends on where you want to go
- in southern italy life is cheaper but also the possibility to find a job are less while in nothern italy you have more canches to find a job but right now life is quite expensive for having an idea a room in Milano could cost around 300 or 400 euros and after you have to pay other cost like water gas light trash ecc. And of course you have to eat so you have to budget for a pizza and beer 15 euros but could be more.

I really don't know where is Aregenza Di Polenzo but if you want to go there before is better that you arrenge something there around for start to know people.

For courses of italian language i know a very good school in florence the web site is www.istitutoitaliano.it if you want you can contact them and you can spend my name the owner is mr Burbi, but i really don't know prices.

Good luck

Hi SMILeS and Welcome to Travellerspoint!

Mmmm, the university of the science of gastronomy...now that sounds nice

I am sure that judging by your friendliness you will be fine. Attitude is a big part of making the travelling experience a good one!!!

Packing for a long trip is one of the hardest parts I figure. What goes and what is cut... good luck there.

Hope to see you around some more!

Sam

Hi there !!

Great to hear someone else out there is thinking the same as me. I am from Sydney, Australia and am packing my things in May this year and heading to Rome .. first things on my agenda will be finding a place to live ... then finding a place to work... cant wait either... love Italy and getting there and immersing myself in the Culture (that is so beautiful) is something i cant wait to do... A little rusty on the language though so have enrolled into a course here and hopefully i will improve!!!

When are u heading there??

Oh..by the way your 'motto' is fabulous... A friend gave it to me and its now stuck to my computer at work so i am reminded by it everyday!!

Hope to hear from you soon

Alana

I'm SUPER DUPER excited!!

i'm leaving on saturday at 3pm (this saturday, the 17th of jan)

i can't stress how excited i am! he he
i really don't speek much italian yet at all, but i'm prety good at picking things up so i'll just have to learn as i go... i duno about schools... i really think the italian language is very close to french which is my mother toung... the accent is just different ;)
i land in ROME on the 18th and so far my plans are to tour arround Rome for a week checking out all the sights i can ... but Rome is really expensive so i'm going to pack up from there and head off to the southern piedmont as soon as i'v seen enough of Rome...
i know, i know, i'll never have seen ENOUGH of Rome... but i'm sure i can see all the main things i wanted to see in a few days...
lol

but heck, if i meet some really nice people i might stay a lil longer... my schedual is prety flexable so ya never know...

hey alanab, im from brisbane and im going to italy in june for 3months. ive been there before but this time im doing it pretty much alone. i know a bit of the language but need to know more. where abouts do you want to live? and are u able to work there? i have dual citizenship so i can work there if i run out of money but i dont think it will be very easy to get a job there. i heard nannying is pretty big there, but i wouldnt know much else about it. good luck and let me know more bout ur plans!
