It's also hard to imagine bridging the age 9-year age gap, even though he was the most mature and sensitive 22 year-old I've ever met.

There are quite a few older-women-younger-men combos out there (Susuan Sarandon and Julianne Moore, for example ... and a surprising number right here on TP, yours truly included!). I don't think big age gaps will always work out, but if it's something you really want, I wouldn't let the numbers be a hangup. As Bill Bryson wrote: if the history of earth could be reduced to a day, man would appear at 1 minute to midnight. So age is all pretty relative.

I love Bill Bryson! If it's just the age thing, or just the distance thing, or just the bad timing thing, I'd maybe think that we'd have a chance. But put all the factors together and it just seems too difficult to overcome. I don't know.

You're a very optmistic gal Tina. It's great. You're the first and the only person in the last 3 weeks that actually think my situation is not a "just a nice memory" and can be more. Thanks for the encouragement.

Not so much optimistic as having gone through it myself, and lived to tell the tale, bought the t-shirt, etc. etc.

You just never know! ANYTHING can happen!!!

You're right girls, anything can happen. But he has just left travelling for the next year or so (damn the travel addiction!!). If we manage to stay in touch and still remember one another at the end of year, then maybe... At this moment it just seems pointless to be emotional invested in a guy when we'll be leading different lives and seeing other people(I know very well what travelling does to raging hormones). I'm working very hard on trying to forget his cute face and beautiful smile, but so far nothing worked, not even making out with some young tall blond cute surfer dude at a party. I used to think that making out with young tall blond cute surfer dudes could cure anything!

Good God woman! You've got it bad! If making out with young tall blond cute surfer dude doesn't make you forget (or at least make him seem a little further away) you are toast...what about short weekend 'get-togethers'? or surprise visits?? Never say never;)
Good Luck...no matter which way it goes.

Give yourself a good hard SLAP woman, what do you mean the cute surfer didn't work, how cute was he? Maybe that was the problem

Some weren't meant to be got over in 5 minutes, its a reflection period, to let fete do its work & make sure the next one's even better

LOL you guys are funny!!

I know, I was surprised too that the surfer dude didn't do a thing! Believe me, he was CUTE. But after 5 minutes of kissing him I suddenly felt disgusted, so I pushed him away. He must have thought that I was very rude, but I didn't even give a sh*t. I was very drunk and very mad at myself for not being able to makeout with a young tall blond cute surfer dude! HELLO!! Yes, I think you're right CC, I've got it bad. Any cure?
