hey hows it goin? im in the same shoes, I'm flying into melbourne on the 5th march on my own with not a clue what to do, got a working visa and not a lot of cash, guna book to stay at habitat hq for the first couple of days as its close to the beach would rather not be jet lagged in the city center. get in touch if ya got any ideas cheers.
I dont have that much money saved up either so fingers crossed finding a job wont be that stressful. It sounds like you've gotten most of it sorted, you can apply for a bank account and tax file number early through a company at a charge. I was thinking of doing it but I thought I'd save myself £50 and just do it myself when I'm there. I'm still deciding on what hostel to go to when I first arrive, I like the sounds of St Kilda but i'm worried about how easy it will be to find a job around there. So many decisions!
If u have more than a £1000 u have nothin to worry about, most people ive spoke to are worried about gettin a job, but ur going to australia!! its guna be an amazin time, the last thing u wana be doing is workin, enjoy it for the first couple of weeks.
bank and tax stuff you can do anytime, (hsbc is everywere)
when do you fly?
I actually arrive in australia on the 8th February, but I'm visiting my cousin in Perth for 6 days and then I fly to Melbourne on the 14th Feb. I am looking at booking a hostel for a few nights to start me off, but like I said before not sure whether to book central or around the St Kilda area.
I'm really looking forward to it now! I think I've basically got everything sorted, so its just waiting for my flight now on the 6th! Are you looking for any owrk in particular?
exciting times ya,
na not really i can teach swimming and do personal training as a back up, but i might do stuff like woof.com.au or helpex were you just do gardening/ housework and people let you stay at ther house, probs the best way to explore Aus way of life, and some of the places sign for your 2nd year visa.
If you like skiing belive it or not they start recruiting in march for the ski resorts as another option there always great places to party.
If all fails i'l just find a cave and live off apples lol
