Hello there.

I have booked a holiday in our campervan from 03/08/12 - 19/08/12. My family consists of me, my wife + 3 boys aged 15 ,8 and 5. So far I have booked the return ferry crossing from Hull - Rotterdam and a campsite in Kobarid, Slovenia for 10 days an estimated 11 hour drive.

We would like to stay somewhere on the way there (1 night) and back (2 nights) but not necessarily a campsite in the van as we are happy to sleep in a proper bed. Stuttgart looks about half way. I have only really travelled in France before and do not know Germany or Switzerland at all.

Can anybody help with a suggestion as to a route, itinerary and where to stay over / visit to break up the journey?

Thank you.

Danny

for overnight parking spots other than just campsites try this:

Just don't sleep on autobahn rest areas

I once rented a property on a website that was like HereStay and HomeAway to a man who showed up for his vacation in a VW campervan. His was a nice little thing, with wood paneling and all that jazz. I guess, if your campervan is nice enough, it won't really matter where you are, because you'll be able to be together in comfort.
