Hi fellas,

I'm planning on heading over to the UK to experience its culture and hopefully be involved in the thriving music scene over there. I would really like to get a job before I go. I know there are some companies that do that for me like Global Work & Travel, London Pub Company, UK Live In Jobs, Working Holiday Club etc. etc. but I just wasn't sure which ones are reliable...

Since I don't wanna spend $1500 through a company just to guarantee me a job there, I would like some advice on how I can do this on my own. I would love some feedback if you guys have gone with one of these companies as well as I don't know what to expect, e.g. don't want any complications with my job position last minute and be stranded on the other side of the planet = S

I'm thinking of working/living somewhere like Liverpool, Manchester, Brighton or anywhere just outside of London where it won't be just like another big city and still cultured and rather affordable = )

I would really appreciate your help.

Not a lot of jobs in the UK, and if you want to work in a pub, join a very long queue. As to live in, if you can set that up for A$1500, take it because that is only usually for the Landlord and his wife in Britain.

Liverpool and Manchester are just outside London like Melbourne is just outside Sydney.

Brighton cultured? Hahahaha.

One problem is that this is Olympics year in Britain and accommodation will be taken anywhere near London.

Check out Gumtree They often have pub jobs. The trick is to be able to offer them something unique or something that sets you up above the rest. Can you drive, paint, garden?. Put that in your response, that you are ready to help with anything, so you can show yourself to be more worthy than the average schmuck applying for a job.

Don't discount London as just any other big city. It's one of the most cosmopolitan and exciting city's in the world.

Thank you so much for the replies guys!

Would still like some feedback from people who've done any of these programs = )
