and btw I got a strange message, when I posted my bit above:

There was a problem posting your entry. Below is a copy of the attempted post. Please try again and let us know if the problem persists. and then the post as written above.

As I saw that it was posted, so I just pressed last post, to get rid of it.

Just found a bug that probably was responsible for this and put up a fix. Experienced the same thing myself yesterday.

I just realised about this discussion after Sam's nudging.

I am of the same opinion with most of what's been said here regarding the effects of the current main forum page (all threads view), so I'm not going to repeat it.

I have an idea of a new layout for the main page for the forums. It's a hybrid of the current and the previous layouts. Think of the content area being divided into three colums with five rows. The total boxes will be 15 - same as the number of forums there are. Each box will have the forum title, followed by the titles of the latest three (or maybe four, five?) threads, and then a "view more threads/discussions" link. If having 15 forums x 3 latest threads are too crowded for a page, then we can have only nine forums showing three latest threads, and the other six just a link to the respective forum. Of the nine, six have to be all six regional forums and the remaining three could be General Talk, Travel Companions, Off-topic.

I think this hybrid look will give a quick view of all forums and the latest threads, and at the same time a new thread for a particular forum will not be buried down by overactivity at other forums.

What do you think?

I like things the way they are. It always takes a bit of time to get used to a new format, a new system, but it hasn't been difficult here. Hey, call me easy...

On a side note, just now, when trying to delete threads in Intros (promotional ones, not just random threads ), I got the following message when trying to delete in the Forum view where I have the little red delete buttons:

There was an error.

There has been an unidentified error. A report of this error has been sent to us via email.

Return to the home page

I was still able to delete the threads from within the threads.

All is well.
