The condo idea is a great one actually. It would be cheaper in the long run and if it has good internet connection, all the better. Peter is suggesting a live 'hangout' so people who can't be in Chicago can join in remotely. Better than finding an internet cafe or sitting in some hotel lobby.

Kris is looking up possible condos as I type this and has found one for $315/night and within walking distance of most everything. Three bedrooms 2.5 baths. Also found another with 3 bedrooms 2.5 baths for $140/night. It's farther away so would have to take cabs to downtown but still not that far.

A condo would be helpful for taking care of Miles and May for meals in the morning or things like that. We can still go out for drinks but also have some of our own liquor/beer (know where to get that), which would save a few dollars too.

I just googled "condo rentals in Chicago"......there are a few 3 bedroom places that look good for $120-350/night. We could split up that cost and bring the nightly rate down to $40-118/night...not too bad. Check it out and let's talk.

Sorry to hear you may not make it, Holly. Maybe something magical will happen between now and then. Plus, Peter's idea of live virtual gathering would allow you to join in remotely.

Good luck and hoping for magic!

Problem is we'll be staying a few extra days after you all, and don't really need a 3 / 4 bedroom place after you all are gone. We're looking one with 2 bedrooms (yeah, not fans of having the kids in the same room as us :)). Quite close to Lincoln Park Zoo in an area called Wrightwood Neighbours.

i'm keeping my fingers crossed too. the bummer is that i'm just coming off 5 weeks of travel & the dollar's weak state kicked our asses. oh well, the good news is that i've already got some bookings in the works to replenish the coffers!

Actually, that's not a bad option either if we could get two 2 bedroom condos. Katie could stay with us and we'd all still be centrally located when it comes to accommodations. Hopefully they have better internet connection than we had in Barbados.

Lincoln Park Zoo won't be as cool as San Diego's but it's still very cool. I haven't been there in a few years and they have really been doing a great amount of habitat renovations. I'll check to see if the zoo is still free. Awhile back, they started charging for parking but entrance to the zoo was still free.

I have Katie's phone number so will give her a call today.

Just left a message on Katies voicemail.

While I hadn't specified before, I was actually thinking a 2 Bedroom Condo for Isa, Beerman, and I, since it sounded like Mr. Overlord had something lined up already. Also if we get a 2 BR Condo and Holly does make it out, then she could crash with us if desired

Specific places that sounded interesting:

Just getting cleaned up, but I will call back soon. Spent a while at the gym this morning and then came home for 3 hours of gardening fun, so just saw your message recently.

Also, my only request of the weekend, is that we go back to that Greek restaurant for Sunday lunch. Yum!

Katie, I'm liking your first link. All of them are part of my old neighborhood and considering the amount of time we'll be there - the price is right. I'm taking for granted it's $55/person/night but still cheaper than a hotel room. You bring the Jameson and we'll bring rum and beer.

Peter, have you booked yet?

Lincoln Park Zoo is still free and has some cool things happening.

I believe the Greek restaurant was the Greek Islands. We (Kris & I) were boycotting the Parthenon because we'd been VERY rudely treated the last time there. Had reservations for 4 but Naomi was a bit late. Owner was an a**hole about it all. Besides, you might run into the owner's son at GI and he'll give you more free wine. Heehee!

Okay, off to do the e-mail.

Actually it was the owner's friend, though the owner was sitting next to him. And I think it was other people who got free wine, I just got to sample everything they were eating Apparently they do that every Sunday after church, so Saturday night means I won't have any buds to hang out with with you get caught in a downpour, but I guess I'll survive... *sniff sniff* ;)
