I live by the principle that just because someone looks English, it doesn't mean s/he can speak English (eg Spanish, Italian, & so on). Conversely, just because someone does not look English, it doesn't mean s/he can't understand it.

Lots of people (mostly in my home town) think i am Scandanavian...most often I get Norweigian and Swedish...when i had hair past my waist i used to put it in two braids but people would always call me Heidi...and i have been asked by people (again, in my home town) if i am from Australia "because you have an accent!". i am born and raised Canadian...i guess i just talk funny!!! i think the funniest thing i heard was when my grade 12 social studes teacher told me that i would have been the perfect Aryan breeder...i was laughing too hard to be insulted, and in fact when i think about it, politics aside, it could be a compliment.

My situation is the same as kkwijibo. When people see me they see a Chinese girl, and then I have to open my big mouth and people do a double take because I have quite a kiwi accent.

A project manager has commented on that and it's hilarious because I didn't know that and it was a revelation to me.

Made me feel good!!!
