I fact I plan to go back in the future, despite my previous bad experience. I want to hike to Roraima this time and go straight to Manaus after that.

Hi,

I was born in Venezuela but currently live in the USA and planing on moving to the UK since I am also from Spain. I have been to Venezuela many, many times in fact I have a lot of family there including my 2 sisters so, Venezuela is a beautiful country and it is worth going to see but to answer your question it is a bit dangerous but it all depens though. Iwould recomend that if you do go visit venezuela always keep in mind that you can't be as liberal as you are in other countries there are times where you should never go out, never take dollars or talk about dollars in public, if you take a taxi only taxi thats are with your hotel or a big taxi line, don't ever get in a random taxi these sort of tings will help a lot. Going to a tourist place and being carefull will help and I think you wont have any problems. Right now Venezuela is not going through its best moments. If you have any questions in particullar you can always message me and I will be glad to help you as much as I can.

Venezuela is a wild wonderful country as a culture and landscapes.

Is advertised as insecure, but the problem comes if someone is looking for.

I have been, in fact it seems safe but caracas is not especially after 10pm.

I was in Caracas in 2006 for my (now) father-in-laws wedding. We stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel, which is obviously very safe. We ventured out a few times and saw a lot of poverty, but at no time did I feel unsafe.
