I am a 22 year old female planning to do a backpacking trip around South East Asia from Singapore on my own. I'd want to visit Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. How much time is advisable if I want to do a proper travelling around these countries? Also, what route should I take from Singapore to visit these places? I had initially planned to fly from Singapore to Hanoi in Vietnam and then head South and then to Cambodia. Is it possible to do an overland trip from Cambodia to Laos? Then I'd head to Thailand from Laos and back to Singapore after touring Thailand.
Finally, I understood from a friend that it'd rain quite a fair bit in July so is it advisable to still tour around these countries then?
Hope to get a response! Any form of advise will be appreciated!
I like your planned itinerary - Hanoi is a great starting point, and going from N. Laos to N. Thailand also makes a great deal of sense. I would give Vietnam a minimum of 3 weeks, and at least 10 or 12 days in both Cambodia and Laos. Thailand is pretty big too, and to see it all, I would think another 3 weeks at least. I would worry more about heat than rain, personally. Seems to me that a little rain would be welcomed that time of year. As to overland travel, it really depends on you, and how comfortable you are in those buses. (I'm one of those who likes to fly)
(Do me and yourself a favor, please - research the dangers of open tour bus travel in Vietnam)

Thank you for your kind advise! I will have to do more research for now especially so since I will be doing this trip myself. Are there anything else that I will have to look out for in that region?
I am taking a similar route from June - October & it is possible to get a coach from Cambodia to Laos.It costs around $40.Here is the coach company name : Phnom Penh Sorya Transportation
