Hi,

I am planning on doing a late wintertrip from Helsinki to Stockholm and want to make a stopover on the Åland Islands.
I know it's popular in summer and really great for renting a bike, as it's flat and easy to get around. But as it will be March, is renting a car an option for a few days to visit some towns, churches and other sites. What do you recommend?
Are things open, like museums and can I find a bed easily?

Thanks!
Michael.

Can add another country to the list with that stop Mike! :) I was checking out Destination Åland and they linked to this page on renting a car, which seems possible in March (I realized afterwards that whole site is just a front to the citybreak site, but there's a phone number on that page for the car rental company).

Visit Åland lists some interesting looking guesthouses and hostels, as well as other accommodation.

It seems to me the kind of place you might run into a few closed doors at that time of year, but there would be plenty of nature scenes to take in.

Well, sort of country. It's getting difficult to visit new countries nearby LOL And somehow I can't be bothered with Cyprus or Malta;)
Getting used to the cold air here in Holland now, so thought I might extend it a bit by visiting places more to the north.
