I think I'm one of those people who's brain was wired in reverse order...

I have the spam page bookmarked and listed on my bookmarks bar. (Using Safari.) I do my thread checks, forum to forum, then check the page to see if I've missed anything. (Then again, I have my 'mouse' set up opposite from most everyone else's and haven't grasped the 'righty-tighty - lefty-loosy' thing for bolts either.)

I do like the idea of the box on the forums but I do NOT want e-mail notifications unless there's an opt-out option.

I too have bookmarked the forum spam link and use this all the time, but still a link from the home page would be good too.

Didn't know about the option of checking it already by the way. Must be well hidden indeed;)

PS: Have been checking it now for 4 minutes I see, but did not see it. You mean I have to type the url myself or is there really a link somewhere Or is that what you mean with 'box'.

I don't think that page is linked anywhere. I think all moderators were informed about its existence when it came into being, or when they became moderator, whichever happened later, and so you're indeed supposed to type it manually and/or bookmark it. But yes, what we suggested was to actually link it in the sidebar for moderators, along with some minimal amount of information so we know when there's something to take action on.

Not to be too succinct, but..........box good, email bad.

Yeah, a link somewhere would be useful - I tend to enter the site using Favourites/Bookmarks which goes straight to the spam check page, otherwise I would forget the url of that page.

Same here, I have the page bookmarked which does the trick.

I agree!

Seems like a consensus on the emails then. Will scrap that idea from my head entirely.

While we are on the topic, one slightly irritating thing with the spam check page is that when a thread is deleted from there, you are then returned to the forum page rather than to the spam check page. This means that if there are other threads to be dealt with you have to go back there. It only takes a matter of seconds but it's a bit annoying if there are loads of marked threads and it has to be done multiple times! Could this be changed so it defaults back to the spam check page after a deletion? Or, that it only returns to the forum pages if there are no more spam threads left? (Not sure if that is technically possible! )

Right, I've put something up now. Whenever there are flagged posts to be looked at, you'll see a little reddish button at the top right of the page with a number in it (the number of flagged entries). It links to the forum_spam page, so you can look at the problems there and edit / remove them as needed.

Hope it helps with the efforts to keep things clean ;) It's pretty darned hard to miss and will probably drive you crazy if you try to ignore it...

On this, what I tend to do when clicking on links from there is to use the option to "open link in new tab". On my mac command-clicking on a link does it. I think on windows it's maybe ctrl-click? If you right click on the link you should see the option there to open it in a new tab anyway. Doing it this way, I can just deal with the problem in its own tab and then close the tab when done, leaving only the forum spam page visible.
