I started using a hammock for camping last summer. There are some great all weather hammock rigs out there.
I stumbled upon it myself and just thought I would point it out to anyone that is maybe looking for an alternative to tents or bivys.
It has made a world of difference to my own outdoor experience.
I have an awesome light weight hammock, with zip around fly screen, that I brought on my travels with me from the US. I can never find two trees in the right position to string the damn thing! I used it once at home before I left, and have never used it again. But yeah I loved the night I spent in it in the back yard!
I've tried hammock camping, but I prefer a flat bed. Also, since it was the kind with the cover over it, it was awkward to get in and out of, especially in the middle of the night, when you need to take a whizz. I prefer a tent and sleeping bag.
