Quoting xjoannax12

I know some of the company's charge a lot - just would hate to go over totally unprepared and alone . Once I am there I will be fine but having something in place for the first week makes a bit of sense for me. Plus it will stop my mum worrying.

Hey Jo, this is the exact same situation for me. I've seen loads of people saying they overcharge which tbh is not that surprising seeing as they are a company wanting to make money but for me I don't mind spending a bit more to have it all in place for my first week and my mum is going spare at the thought of me going alone so hopefully it will chill her out haha. I'll be 22 hoping to go this time next year.. really don't mind the whole solo thing seeing as everyone seems to do it for aus.

hey guys.. i headed out on my own iv been here for like 2.5 weeks.. in the same hostel was people that did ultimate oz.. and iv heard from people who have done oz intro.. nobody has regretted it.. and yes you di pay through the nose for it to be honest but i was a nervous wreck before coming out and as much as i have met loads of peple and have never actually been alone.. it is worth it for the help they give you and to feel part of something... and get u meeting people in exactly the same boat.. and piece of mind. most people i know who started off on either of those have stuck together for quite a while before branching off to do their own stuff. so i would say its worth it.. as im currently on my own wondering what to do next and getting nervous about heading to the next place lol :) x

Hey Jenny, just out of interest seeing as you're out there now is stuff how you expected it to be/any tips that you've learnt from being out there so far.. obviously 2 and a half weeks is quite short but just wondering if you had any advice for anything that you've come across? Sarah x

Hello Jo,

Me and my boyfriend are going out in June2012 but so so nervous!

I'm yet to hand my notice in at work but got my visa and starting to get all expenses worked out etc and want to book flights pretty soon. Would love to compare notes with people etc :)

Where are you thinking of going first? We were thinking Sydney and then Perth to stay with Auntie for a while.

We were also thinking of going with an agency for peace of mind and again like others have been told they are not worth the money but they do bank account, tax number and accomadation for first few nights. The only thing we dont like the sound of is being in a 10+dorm room in the hostel. I wouldnt mind having to share with a few people but not too many because we want a decents night sleep and we arent going just to party we want to work and live too :) To be honest we're not into drinking all that much!

Hi Lydia

I am not sure of my plans yet.

I have two options;

1. Go with Oz Intro, start off in Sydney and they can set everything up so me. Yes it's more expensive but you do get a lot from them plus you can continue to use there services ie. internet and job website for the whole year your in Oz. This way I can have a proper holiday for the first week and meet people with similar ideas to mine and then go travelling.

2. Arrange to meet up with people up here and travel over myself, plus organise everything myself visa and insurance. My friend is currently in Cairns and says its really good for work and she just had a job where she just worked for her accommodation, now she is away fruit picking.

I am not into drinking that much either but for me personally I think I am leaning more towards option 1. Think it just gives more security.

I think it's good you guys are going together.

Do you know how long yous are planning on staying out there?

Hi Jo

We're hoping to be there for around 11 months, we have to be back for my friends wedding in May2013 as im a bridesmaid!

I agree about going with an agency but I will be looking for reviews first. I keep hearing that they're not worth the money but definately agree that they would make us feel more secure. Even though i'm going with my boyfriend we are still nervous and would like to be chilled out for the first week like you say.

How much do Oz Intro charge do you know?

Oz Intro charge about £430 I think and with that you get a weeks accommodation, a weeks activities, they set you up with a sim card, bank card, airport transfers, a few of you meals and drinks, a medi care card and mail holding.

You also get 12 months access to their job site and you can use there facilities there including getting advice and their internet the whole time your in Oz.

Oops I sound like an add for them!

The reviews seem pretty positive though.
