Hi Jo,

I'm in a similar position to you also. Been toying with the idea of using Oz Intro as there are good and bad reviews on them. But part of me wants to use them just for the extra security as I am also planning on going out there alone and I think I would feel better knowing I was guaranteed to meet people in the first week. I'm not 100% sure though. Ah theres so many options, its confusing . When are you planning on going out to Australia?

Hi Rachel

Think I just sent you a private message

I am hoping to go with Oz Intro for the last week in August.

The reviews are pretty positive and the price is good too.

Let me know if you want to chat more. :)

Jo

Hey Jenny, just out of interest seeing as you're out there now is stuff how you expected it to be/any tips that you've learnt from being out there so far.. obviously 2 and a half weeks is quite short but just wondering if you had any advice for anything that you've come across? Sarah x

heyhey! i would advise... pack lightly.. bring a few padlocks...bring not much clothes but all the other essentials like shampoos any cosmatics all meds u might need.. sort ur medicare, tax file no, phone and bank as soon as u get here as stuff takes a couple weeks to get posted to the hostel ur in... erm... be friendly and chatty to people.. not everyone will wana talk but u wont know til u speak to them.. erm.. if u have a laptop then bring it as i miss mine so badly (but if its too expensive then buy a netbook or something to bring with...)... if ur nervous and not very confident then an intro tour / oz intro / ultimate oz or whatever is a great way of meeting people in the same boat but yes they are expensive for what u physically get. bah! ok! im being chucked off the comp at peter pans haha x

Ozintro groundhog thread.

My opinion, no need to go with an expensive intro package. It's very easy to meet people when you're travelling in oz and all the things that they do for you are very easy to do by yourself. Keep the cash and save it for going out for a few extra drinks instead, that's a better way of meeting people. And you're going to need the money, it's pricey over there for us Europeans right now.

That's all really helpful, cheers! A friend of mine went travelling to south america last month for 5 months and only took 4 tshirts, one pair of shorts and one pair of trousers. Definitely a lot easier for guys I think! I'm not a massively confident person but I reckon in this situation I can just go for it because hopefully everyone is in a similar boat. How long are you planning on being out there for? Working or just travelling, everyone seems to be trying to work out there but I think I'm just going to wait until I have enough and go for a shorter time and just travel so I don't have to worry about getting work xx

Message me if anyone would like a travel buddie for then. Michelle x

Hi Michelle I'm going out in November and I land in Sydney I wanted to travel up the East coast. I was looking into the ozintro week and think it would be a great way to meet people and have some accom booked up for when i arrive in Sydney. Whats your plan?

Hello guys,

I am Jo, 24 about to quit my job and go travelling. Had been looking at a round the world trip with STA Travel but think I am more leaning towards travelling round Oz and NZ.

Bit anxious about going myself so had been considering going with Oz Intro and hoping to meet similar people to pair up with.

I am not sure when I am going but it will be after July 2012 and I am hoping to go for quite awhile and travel about.

I really want to do everything and see everything I can. I don't want a drinking/partying holiday either. Though I do love a good party - that's not my main reason for travelling.

So if there is anyone with similar ideas to me - please get in touch!!

Jo

Hey JO

I've looked at the same thing through STA travel, they have few branches throughtout UK, i'm looking at doing oz and new zealand, followed by hawaii and america, for all them flights they were charging around 1500 pounds so not to bad for all that

Im planning on setting out around novemeber so ive got plenty of time to save up, im bit anxious of going it alone also so be good know you if u have similar plans
