Hi there!
I want to experience songkran in both bkk and chiang mai. Since my return flight back is from chiangmai on the 19th april, i am wondering if it is advisable to go songkran on the 13th and 14th in bkk then take a night train and reach chiangmai on 15th. If the idea is good, should i book my train tix in advance? How advance? Will the price increase during songkran?:)

Wasif,
You do have a flight option. Both Nok Air & Air Asia fly: BKK-CNX. Overnight buses, both gov't & private make the run to CM every day/night as well. I would book the train a few days in advance if you choose that option.

You might consider Pattaya's Songkran as well. They draw it out for a week. April 13-19th.

I've done it and taken the train. For some reason I didn't have a hard time getting reservations, but I can't swear it is always easy.

The trains do change but follow the advice above and try the trains. The Songkran Chang Mai is also long - enjoy...
