Maybe a stupid question - can you take your medication?

Travel Forums Australia / New Zealand & The Pacific Maybe a stupid question - can you take your medication?

Hi guys,

sorry if this is really stupid - but I have never travelled before.

I am hoping to go to Oz later this year and I take medication daily. Are you able to take this with you - can you get more sent over?

I am just not 100% sure about customs and such.

Will be making a point to speak with my doctor before I go but just wanted just general advise just now if you guys are able to help?

Thanks

Jo

Not stupid question at all!! I've worried about it too in the past....

Going into Australia, yes you can carry prescription medicines with you, up to a 3 month supply... there is no problem if your name is printed on the package (by the chemist/ pharmacist), or you can also carry a letter (translated into English if needs be) from your doc outlining what meds you take and why.

Hope that helps,
Cheers,
Abby

Hi,
I guess because it's Oz, there is a good chance they will have the medication you need over there. Also a lot cheaper I figure. ;)
Better to bring doctor's prescription and buy it over there.
Cheers
Mike

Thanks Mike

I get my medication free here so I might have to check with my doctor.
