Any quality hotel recommendations in Paris? What is Paris like in March?

I can't find the link to a thread that was very similar. It had some great advice - for some reason I can't getthe search engine to work.

Anyhow, I stayed at Home Moderne - clean, small, affordable and a 10-minute walk to the Metro. A little out of the way if you're looking to walk out the door and have the sights right in front of you, but I didn't mind the daily trip.

I used the Hotel Violet on Rue Jean Lantier in the Chatelet district.
It is 3 mins walk from the Louvre and seconds from a Metro station and a small supermarket for midnight snacks!
In the other direction, it's only 5-10 mins to the Ile de la Cite and Notre Dame.
And we found it a good base to start a walk past the Louvre, onto the Champs Elysees and round the Palais de Chaillot to the Eiffel Tower.
Chatelet is also well placed for shopping, being near lots of department stores, and also restaurants. Nearby too is the footbridge used in the last episode of Sex and the City!
Overall, I'd highly recommend staying in this area - very central and the hotel was a reasonably priced 3 star.

You probably mean this thread tway :)

What problems did you have with the search? If it looked like an error, let me know or post something in the systems forum :)

ps. still can't think of that hotel I stayed at in Paris....

Thanks, Sam! That's the one.

As for the search, I type in "Paris hotels" in the advanced search field, keep the selection as "3 months" and "all forums", and it gives me back the message "results 1 to 0 of 0" and there's nothing more on the page. I've tried the search before and it worked - so I'm sure I'm doing everthing right. Well, pretty sure...

Hmmm, yes, the search form seems to have a 'problem' with two words like that. It's not really a problem as much as the fact that it will only return exact results so it is searching for that exact phrase and not showing you all the threads that were about "paris" or "paris france hotels" for example.

So searching for single words is probably the best way to go unless you know for sure that is the exact phrase that was in the post/thread you are looking for....

Bit of a bummer really but I don't think there is an easy fix to this :(

Hey, it works! I'll remember that for next time. Or I'll try to remember...

Well, there is an option (undocumented by us) to add an AND to the search. If you search for "Paris AND hotels", you'll find a few more results :) You can also use OR in there (and get a LOT of results) and there's some other stuff like that as well; perhaps I should get a page up explaining that.

You're right though, I would expect it to search for all words even without an and. Possibly something that can be changed.
