This is going to sound odd, and please don't take it as a negative. I love this site! It is the best travel site I have come across.
I signed up to be a travel helper for the US, but I have been unable to help anyone yet. The US is pretty there anyway to break it up into smaller sections? Like Midwest, East coast, West coast, etc.? I was just feeling useless....

Wow, yeah, there are a LOT of helpers for US. Little surprise that no one has found out to ask you a question yet. Although, I'm guessing you would have had some notifications of people who have chosen to ask their 'USA' question in the forums instead.

Good point though, we should break it down by state really.

Hi Peter,

If not breaking down by state, then possibly by geographical area (e: east coast, midwest, etc.)?

I have also signed on as a travel helper for North America. My expertise is the midwest and my husband's is the southwest. I have not received any direct questions as a helper, but then the midwestern US is not a "high traffic" area for travelers - especially when we're knee deep (or better) in snow. Summer may prove to be different... (There's 15,293 lakes in Minnesota if you want to go swimming or ice fishing.)

Anyway, breaking the US down into smaller sections may help travelers get in touch with right helper more easily - and not have so many to choose from at first glance.

(Really, the midwest isn't as boring as one might think! Unless you drive through Nebraska.)

My personal opinion is that it isn't necessary to split the USA into multiple regions for the travel helper. For any country which I am a helper for, I don't know EVERYTHING about the country, but do know bits about specific parts of the country.

As a travel helper, usually I just look at the thread started, if I can help I will, if I can't I move on. It's not that big a deal, in my mind, to look at all the threads started asking for help for the USA. There really aren't that many that get started each week.

I have gotten very few unsolicated PMs about any country, and most of those were about Chile.

I'm fine if it's split, but I just don't think it's needed.
