Hi all,
As i've learned through research smoking is illegal in public places in Singapore, but is it permitted in any guesthouses or other places, ie smoking lounges, bars etc? As well, what are averge prices for a pack of cigarettes throughout SE Asia (thailand, cambodia, vietnam)?

If the Guest House allows it, you can smoke but you should ask them first: Smoking in Singapore:

.

Thailand you can't smoke in Malls, hotel lobbies. You have to ask to smoke in a taxi and many will say no. Also a few other places like Siam Square in Bangkok. You can still smoke in many places like bars and such.

Cigarettes in these countries are generally cheaper than the West but you may bot get the brands you want. Watch for poor quality counterfeits, with very similar packaging but spelling of brand names slightly different.

There is a smoking ban pretty much in all buildings in Thailand. However, many proprietors will ignore it. This doesn't mean that the police will ignore it. Tourists are often "fined" for offenses that Thais can violate, or have already been "fined".

Big heads up: If you like to smoke while casually walking along the sidewalk, don't casually toss that butt. It can get you a 2,000 baht fine and is one of the prime targets of the downtown Bangkok police.

hi I'm a Singaporean and a smoker. You're allowed to smoke pretty much anywhere. Sidewalks etc. keep 5m away from building entrances, train stations and bus stops and you're fine. no smoking in air conditioned places. Most buildings have allocated smoking areas anyway so no worries. Most importantly don't litter

Yes smoking is banned in Singapore as they adopted a law that tries to keep streets clean. It is called 'Clean Green'. Smoking is not allowed in restaurants and public places, although some bars and restaurants have some rooms just for those who want to smoke.
