BUYING A CAR IN CHILE

Hey!!

We are two women who are planning a trip to Chile/Argentina from 1 Oct 2012 -1 Feb 2013.

We wish to buy a 4x4 vehicle with insurances and paperwork all in order to travel in within both countries.

1. Is it possible to buy a car in Chile and drive it to Argentina and then drive it back again to Chile?
2. How hard is it to sell the car when you are back in Chile?
3. Do you have to have a Chilean address in order to purchase a vehicle, insurance, paperwork and RUT?
5. Are there any special rules/paperwork regarding entering Patagonia?

The point here is that you are taking the car out of the country, which any insurance company will not like.

How hard to sell it back? Very. You will be looking for a quick sale so will suffer a big loss.

I would fly or bus about and hire a car for "local travel" as needed.
