Getting travellers to help you buy things from abroad Read

I enjoy getting stuff via friends who travel abroad. But, not all my friends are travelling all the time to the places that I want to get stuff from. So I just want to do a poll on this.

Does anyone think its good if there was a website that maybe helps to match us (grounded folks) with travellers so that they could help buy stuff for us at a small fee? Saves on postage fee and all, especially if we buy stuff that's in small quantities.

Is anyone willing to try this on maybe more expensive goods like branded bags where you could possibly save up to even a hundred dollars on each bag?

Sounds like an awesome way to scam people. SE Asia scamartist and producer of worthless fake bags pretends to be interested buyer from Western Europe, tells innocent travellers to go procure bags from SE Asia producer of awesome bags at $200 a piece; will pay $250 on delivery. Innocent traveller spends $200 on worthless piece of crap which no one will ever give him money for in return. SE Asia scamartist laughs all the way to the bank.

Hopefully travellers are savvy enough for such a scheme to never actually quite take off.
