When I travel to the UK from the US, I'd like to call home. I know there are a lot of international cell phone plans which require a contract, so you're locked in.
Is there such a thing as a prepaid cell phone you can use internationally? Is there an easy way to make a call?
I've tried international calling cards and pay phones in the past and they're a pain. Any help? I would prefer a prepaid plan.
Last year when I was in the UK I used Lebara, mainly to call locally and home to Australia, and found that the prepaid amounts for internet access, texts and phone usage was pretty fair.
I just got a prepaid SIM card when I got there, and it was all easy, as my contacts were already in my phone, and I added new UK ones as needed.
You just need to be sure that your phone is not locked to your network at home so you can swap SIM cards.
Last time I used Vodafone in India and I am very happy with their international calling services.
