great shout with Maze. i was struggling to find anywhere decent and not too expensive for New Years round Sydney.

I get into Sydney on the 16th November. Got no plans except Stereosonic on the 24th November.

Guys I would seriously stay clear of Maze, I stayed there last year, one word.....NITEMARE!!

I stayed in an out-of-order room (long story) and it was pretty bad, some guy had all his clothes stolen (no idea how) and it smelled GROSS. They do have some nites where they get ppl together for nites out and stuff but most hostels do that anyway.

I just think there are better options in Sydney and maybe look around a bit more

The Central YHA looks good, slightly more expensive than some of them but hey it xmas lol.

I stayed in a placed called Central Budget Accomodation - big rooms with tvs and dvd player which is a luxury when staying in hostels but the people there seemed to be long-termers and there wasnt the same atmosphere you get in most hostels. So I guess pros and cons for that one.

I know Base has female only sanctuary dorms which I might book for my 1st week there. I stayed at Base but not in Sydney and they liked to get everybody involved

Have you came across any that you like?

This is my first time to Sydney and to Oz so I haven't experienced a hostel before!! I've seen a few that seem OK for their price.. they're hostels so I'm not looking for much, just somewhere to rest my head really!

World Square has seemed the best one to me so far!

Hey Stacey,

Dont tell me.......You have booked into Maze? If so, apologies if my previous post was not what you wanted to hear but I think its best to be prepared.

Plus, if it is bad I guess it means you will spend more time spent outside sightseeing and partying

Yeah I liked what I read about World Square plus its smack bang in the city centre (and next door to a Burger king - Hangover cure). I walked past it a few times when I was in Sydney and it looked like a busy wee place.

P.S If you decide to book World Square, book directly through them as its cheaper than through hostelworld or hostelbookers
