Hi all I'm just starting getting the travel bug at 47 after being married of 16 years now I find myself on my own so now I think it's time o get out and have a look at this world before it's gone altogeather. I'm a male so I guess travelling solo is a bit easier for me, does anyone have any travel tips for me as this is a first in what I hope will be many first to come.
thanks tony.

Hi

Well im just back from oz in january
im 44 and single and cant settle so think i may head back to Australia during april/may.

I must admit i did find it hard staying youth hostel and most of the travellers were a good bit younger than me. Although i did find alot of real nice travellers to talk to.
And i have made a few good friends who i am still in touch with.

If you are heading to the UK its bloody cold here just now.
travel light is another good tip as domestic airlines dont allow as much luggage as international airlines.

I say go travel the world and see the sights and make alot of good international friends along the way.

babe

go to cheap countries (Australia is not one of them) - so you can really take it easy and slowly. Your budget will last you for longer. If you look around you can find places cheaper than hostels - especialy if you pay in advance for a few weeks.

Pick a destination, book the tickets and go! No point in overthinking it.

I'd be loathed to paying in advance for a few weeks. This would tend to compromise freedom, flexibility & spontaneity in travel plans. How much refund do you think you'd get if you decided to leave early? Coming back later to the same accommodation to use up credit for monies already paid, may not always suit you or whoever you may be with at that particular time.
