One improvement: Put the image url between double quotes, so that a stray closing bracket ")" in the filename doesn't end the CSS url() rule prematurely. (See Uluru.)

Odd: when I open Uluru article I don't see any photo at all, it is just blank

Yes, that's because of the bug I mentioned; the photo used has a ")" in the filename, and thus isn't loaded by the browser. (It tries to find a file called "http://1.tpstc.com/img/guidecovers/1_tp-2005040..Rock" rather than "http://1.tpstc.com/img/guidecovers/1_tp-2005040..Rock)-4.jpg")

Sorted. You just put that bracket in there to test things didn't you?

Nice function. Would it be possible to select a couple of them, so that they can rotate?

I'm open to it. It would require a fair bit of reworking what I did, so might leave it for now while we've still got plenty of locations that don't have any photos.

And one other remark, in some places with a large name and a clearification in brackets, the title is blocking a large part of the picture. (see Madrid (autonomous community) as an example.) I am not sure if there are even longer titles, that would become partly unreadible as the end would disappear. But would it be an option if the part in brackets would be of a smaller fontsize?

Yeah, there's some really long ones that do cause issues - I'll build in some protection so that if the title is longer than x amount of characters we use a smaller fontsize. And text in brackets too - that would make a lot of sense.

-update: this is done now, see examples: Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de Escorial and Madrid (Autonomous community) -

Hadn't checked back this topic yet, but seems to work pretty well for the longer titles.

I agree on the rotation part, first let's see if we can match all topics with a picture.

Somehow, when choosing a cover photo, it appears all the way to the right for cropping. And it takes much longer than before as well. Actually it never ends, but waiting 30 seconds and then going back to the article, the photo is added.
But this, and increasingly more and more features on TP, are getting worse. I hope people do still check things here, as it's not improving unfortunately. Actions are not taken or taken after months of neglecting.

I don't get any results anymore when looking for cover photos, not in IE, and not in Chrome.

Hmm yeah, I see what's happened there. My latest indexing of photos for the search function failed to index the large size of the photos, which is needed for the cover photo search. Not quite clear on why it didn't do that, but I'll run some tests locally then reindex.

All working again :) And in theory it should stay fresh too now.
