2 weeks driving in N/W Europe?

Hello!

I've got two weeks to drive around Northern / Western Europe... most likely in July. I'll be starting in Gothenburg Sweden and ending in Amsterdam. My wishlist of visits also includes Denmark and Luxembourg. I'd prefer to avoid all the big cities in between the start and end points. This route covers just over 1000 miles. Is that too much to drive in 2 weeks? Luxembourg really packs on the additional mileage - are those extra miles worth it? Overall I'm looking for quaint, old, smaller villages with friendly people, and I'd likely rather stay put for a day or three then move on to the next spot. I'd love a bit of fairy tail thrown in for the mix.

Any suggestions, comments or cautions are welcome.

I guess it could be done in 2 weeks, though a bit rushed, if you don't want to stay longer than about 2 days at each stop, and only pick some of the highlights. Which places would you prefer to skip, and what would you like see / how many stops planned etc.?

I would say, don't skip Luxembourg, unless it really troubles your itinerary. Lovely small country, good hiking oppurtunities, and Luxembourg city is great to visit as well. Also, if you go to Luxembourg, you could make an extra stop at Trier, some 30-40km away from Luxembourg.
