Hi Jenn106 - Sounds great! It sounds very much like how my planning is going
Are you on facebook?
rvcampertravele - Thanks for you reply. I'd love to hear more about your trip and look forward to reading your blog, I will also look into the provider you mentioned. I did Mexico last May and absolutely loved it and did not feel scared at any point. I'd love to go back to Mexico on my upcoming trip, but due to time will probably not get a chance. Firstly, I need to establish where I would like to start my trip, once this obstacle is out of the way, let the planning begin
Yeeha!! And your mentioning of spanish lessons with the provider you travlled with sounds great - all i know at this stage is un cerveza por favor! lol - I should work on more than just my beverage order
Hi astutetrader, thank you for your email. It sounds like an amazing trip you have planned. Your offer of a travel companion sounds fantastic, although I don't meet either criteria, I don't speak spanish and I am not in Central America until December. I hope this forum allows others to connect with you in the hope of connecting along your trip
Hi Alliekap - don't be put off that you've never travelled before, I have travelled before, but never alone or for so long in countries where i don't speak the language and will no doubt find it hard to communicate with people in the beginning stages of my trip. I'm more than happy to keep in touch with you and if you plan to travel Central and South America at that time, great! Are you on facebook?
Hi Carolyn - Thanks again for your reply - I look forward to writing a blog and have stepped up Nicaragua on my list after both your comment and Jo's. So many places, so little time
I am really enjoying the researching of the trip ( never thought I;d say that) and can't wait to explore
Hi Jo - thank you for putting my mind at ease with your comment that you travelled for 7months in the same places as I am planning and felt safe, I will defintely look into your recommended book
Nicaragua was not on my must see list, and will look into it in more detail after yours and Carolyn's recommendation.

Central and South America are fine to travel alone, just use common sense, and get your pre-trip information. I have traveled over 14 years there and not a bit of problem. It is usually the people that have not had the experience, that discourage others from the experience.

Hello, Alicia! I'm from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and use to travel around Brazil or South America during my vacations.
Last month, March - 2012, I went to Chile and it was a very good trip. I visited the north (Atacama desert) and Santiago and I felt safe during my journey.
About Brazil, tell me where and what you want to go and I will help you to choose the best way.
You can find me in facebook writing my email address (josehroberto @ yahoo.com.br), where you will see some fotos of my Chilian journey.
Bye.

Hi Alicia (and Jenn106)
I am planning to go to Central America as well, but from Europe (http://www.travellerspoint.com/forum.cfm?thread=88389), probably in October/November.
Let me know if you want to chat more about the plans...

Hi Ania
Thank you for your post. Do you know roughly how long you be travelling in central/south america for? I've recently booked my flights and will be flying into Managua, Nicaragua on the 19th of Dec and then flying back to Sydney from Rio on the 25th of Feb. I was really intrigued by what this post had said about Nicaragua and after researching realised this sounds like a beautiful destination and a good place to start my trip. Which country will you be leaving from in Europe?
Do you have facebook, if so i can add you then you, me and Jenny can communicate that way?
speak soon,
alicia
