Tammi I totally understand that your nervous & rightly so its a big thing! Life is for living & whats the worst that could happen - you dont like it thats no big deal all paths lead home but at least you can say you have tried! My ticket & all is booked, I fly out on the 13th of feb im going to thailand for 3 weeks & then I fly on to Sydney I arrive there the 10th of March. Plans wise im not sure really I dont want to make to many plans because I want to enjoy being open to doing new things when I get there. I think you should go for it because I know if I didnt try I would really regret in down the line. Im no expert on travelling on my own but if you need someone to help you make a few plans to put your mind at rest I would be happy to help.

I've been boarding only for a couple of years .. put i picked it up quickly as im quite sporty and always have been .. as long as you have reasonable balance and co-ordination and strength its easy enough and its amazing. Never had the opportunity to board on real mountains though.. only ever in ral wno indoor centres haha ... im so excited to get out to oz .. i only made the decision about a week ago to head out there but id been thinking about it for a long long time... im heading out early jan .. you got any plans yet ? :)

Hi guys,
Think I'm of the same mindset as most other people on this thread but some tips and advice would certainly be appreciated.
I'm 21, single (broke up with long term GF about a year ago) and other than my full-time job I have no ties or commitments to this country (UK).
I've just returned from a 6 week long tour of South-east Asia where I traveled to; Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand, I've returned restless and feel like I've left part of myself back in Asia.
Even though I have a stable full time job which I enjoy and doesn't pay too badly I am willing to take the plunge and leave for Australia/SE Asia for approx 3-4 years. If I don't go now I will never forgive myself, I don't want to be sat in a house with a mortgage sat on my head in 10 years time and hate myself for not being brave and going off to the other side of the world for a while.

My plan is too leave approx late December of this year but more realistically January of 2013.
I am going to apply for a year long working visa in Oz and extend this to two years by working out in the fields for a least a few months. (I have no experience of bar work, so I imagine I'l be putting my 6ft 4 to use on ranches and farms anyway for most my stay).
My work experience lies mostly in security and conflict roles though so I'l see if I can put any of that to use in the cities.

Whilst I work over the 2 years I want to aggressively save to allow myself to spend year number 3 travelling Asia at a slower pace and hit up the countries I missed in my short journey this year.
I want to go back to Laos and Thailand and also go to Myanmar and Cambodia and probably southern Vietnam.

My plan up until the day of the flight in January is basically just to save as much as possible and research the move and the job situation in OZ. Before I leave all I need to do is sell my car which will easily pay for my flights and contingency money and just say goodbye to the family and some friends.
Then Oz and Asia your all mine...
Anyone have any suggestions on best Oz cities to go to first or where work is easiest to find or general suggestions on my situation and plans?
Thanks
P.s Feel free to add me on Facebook if anyone wants to network or chat about Oz moves etc 'Dan Walsh' on Facebook
