Hi there.

4 of us (all adults, 2 couples) will fly to Glasgow in 2 weeks. We will rent a car and wanted some suggestions of where we should visit and stay over a weekend. We have 2 nights/3 days to spend there and would like to be within a 2 hr. driving radius of Glasgow (but not in Glasgow itself). We like whisky, castles, and anything that will satisfy our ladies as being "romantic".

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Prestwick Airport, right?

Arran is my best advice! (No, not the Irish Aran )
The ferry departs just north of Prestwick. Check if taking the car on the ferry or renting a car on the island is the cheapest.
the ferry company is called Calmac.

The famous saying being that God runs the world exxcept the SCotish islands which are run by Caledonain Macbraye...

Arran is great, although be warned, it WILL rain, probably often! Ferry goes from Ardrossan, but there's not that many of them, so check timings (especially if its possible to get to the airport in time for your return, or without having a 10 hour wait...)

If you are arriving at Glasgow Int'l itself, i'd suggest the area around Loch Lomond etc, which is more accessible and has more options for places to go/visit.

Gelli is right!
Wellies and raincoat is compulsory on the isles, however with the strong winds there's a good chance of a few minutes of sun in between showers.
Silly me, I forgot my raincoat at home , so I had to get a new one in Oban...

Head to Loch Lomand and the Trossacs National park. There is a little town on the loch about an hour away from Glasgow called Luss. Very nice (and romantic).
