Hi guys,

Really hoping someone can help me out as I'm unable to find the answers anywhere - heading to the UK in May, my Dad is british and I'm fairly sure I am eligible for a UK passport so putting together the application.

The only problem is I'm starting to think it's not going to come through in time for my trip - is it possible to enter the UK on my NZ passport and have my parents courier over the UK passport once it has all cleared? Then stay on in the UK and work as normal, stay as long as I want etc.

Or is this something I must have sorted out before I go over?

Any advice gratefully recieved, starting to panic slightly that I may end up in customs jail

Thanks!!

Firstly, are you sure you are eligible? Was your Dad born in the UK as a British citizen, or was naturalised in the UK? Was he & your mother married?

Secondly, if you are eligible then it would be better to obtain the British passport before travelling, otherwise you would be entering the UK as a tourist. If you get the application off now, you should hopefully get the passport in time however you don't say when in May you're travelling. This is something that should have been sorted out before organising travel tickets really.

Thanks for taking the time to respond but all sorted, yes I'm eligible and it's on it's way now, so no harm done.
