I did this with my buddies two years ago but we went around the world ish. We spent our time in asia and the america's. From San Francisco to Lake Tahoe to Vegas for some shooting. We headed to Texas after then we stopped by in Ko relax there and visit my uncle, its a pretty chill area. After we headed to Brazil then a 14 hour plane ride to Japan, then Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, then we returned to the Philippines. It was a fun 2 months and we spent around 10k USD each for everything, food, hotel, transportation, etc.. But if you don't plan on buying a lot of things in Target or Walmart then you should spend around maybe 7k on your entire trip ! Have fun and stay safe :D

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

A coast to coast trip sounds amazing and I wish I had the funds and the guts to do the same - how long are you planning to stay though? If you have enough time (which I think you do since youre planning to take on some temporary work), then definitely take the trains. Theyre actually a bit more pricey than the budget airlines like Southwest, but youll really get to take in all of States and probably meet some interesting people on the way. I found an interesting post by the NYT on such a trip awhile ago (;). Have a fun and safe trip! Let us know how it goes :)

Hi there,

I'm heading to NYC on Aug 19th and staying for about a week then flying to Chicago. I'm then using the trains to travel coast to coast.

I've no tips as this is my 1st time in the states but I have been chatting to a girl that has been many times and we're meeting up when I'm there so your more than welcome to join us :)

I have the same idea. Coast to coast trip of America. I'm hoping to get to the other side, I'm easily distracted :) I start in New York beginning of October. My first time to America so unfortunately can not offer any advice, however if anyone has any tips, they would be greatly received. I was thinking of renting a car for parts/travel between cities. It would be good to share the cost with anyone looking to do the same. Love a road trip :) Also the best way to see USA apparently.

You won't have any problems meeting people. Especially if you're staying in hostels, B&Bs etc. The Americans are so friendly and welcoming and will go out there way to strike up a conversation as I found out. I'm quite a shy person as well and I made so many friends on my trip. People that I stayed with, people I met at local bars etc. I'm still in regular contact with them now and I'm going back in Nov to stay with a family that I met last year and I can't wait. You'll have an ace time.

The most important thing is residing there. Here are some tips

Check out the neighbors
A nearby market
Good location
