Me and my bf have provionally booked flights to Sydney for 8th June on a WHV. Stopping in Thailand on the way home.
Because of our route we can only fly into and out of Sydney but my aunti lives in Perth and we would like to stay with her for a while.
A one way flight is £162 each but the STA travel guy suggested we drive back? It would take 1-2 weeks but he said we'd get to really see the country.
I'm a bit sceptic of that though with being in the outbacks on our own at night etc. Do you think this is a bit far fetched and stupid or do people do this?
We're also wanting to be in Sydney for NYE so will probably do this in Jan13.
Also any other tips you can give would be great.
Hi Lydia, I spent a fair amount of time looking into camper-vanning across Oz. Lots of companies offer camper renting but the cheapest are about 70 Dollars per day with ins. That's not including petrol, so are pretty pricey. However if your willing to take a gamble (if not available you could still fly) nearly all of these companies offer the rent at just 1 Dollar per day if your transporting them from one depot to another which they are needed. In many cases paying for petrol as-well!
These offers seem to come up pretty often, hope this has helped you a little.
Sounds good thanks for that.
Will look into it because we would be picking it up from one place and dropping off in another.
I'd love to do the whole campervan thing i'm just not sure I want to do it over such a long distance! Eeeek :|
Any companies you would recommend?
