My teenage Granddaughter will be traveling with me soon. She has
recently had surgery for scoliosis (spine curvature). She has 2
steel rods surgically implanted along her spine. When she goes through
a metal detector, it's gonna cause that thing to scream! Will she need
any sort of doctor's statement, whatever, that she has these rods in
her back????

It will be a hastle but not a pain.
A medical document or statement will be helpful.

You should be able to obtain a "Dr. Note" from the surgeon who worked on her. This is a standard thing... I sometimes travel with a work mate who has a pacemaker and he tends to get through easily enough.. .they simply do the "pat down" search rather than the detector... Of course after checking his card and ID closely.
