It would be the best if you take it with you..
I know that you worry about the safety on it but tagging along with your phone is really convenient..
Just make sure you always keep your eyes on it when your in a crowded area.. ;)

take it with you , if your going over seas just unlocked it. its very easy to do... if you haven't upgraded firmware and have 5.0.1 your in better shape

download a program called redsn0w(yes thats a zero)
go find your phones firmware(settings,general,about).. go to clarified.com or you will know when u see it.. google iPhone4 firmware
down load it.. 1gb almost

install redsn0w, once you get the hang of it, search for ultra snow

in redsnow search retype in the repo.666...... address for package installed. it will download ultrasnow, just install it and youtube the rest...

the best is the iPhone 3gs... unteathered and unlocked very fast......

then when in the country you need to be just get a prepaid sim card.. good to go..

I always take mine.. mainly because I love being able to email or whatsapp photos home to friends and family. Lots of places have free wifi so you can dodge those extortionate roaming charges fairly easily. If you can download maps and view them offline, that's also really handy. We recently did that with an NY subway map and found it invaluable for planning routes on the fly.
