Hello everyone!

I am looking to travel to the East Coast of Australia in June this year, and I am keen to find some farm work for the months June - September.

Is anyone able to help point me in the right direction of where I will be able to find some work?

I have gone onto the Harvest Line website, but the jobs there seem to be very limited, and also not very many of them!

I've recently tried contacting some working hostels, as I know that farmers etc have good contact with the local working hostels and it's often through them that you will secure work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, does anyone know what is the better fruit/veggie to pick and the ones to stay clear of!

thanks again for ALL your help!

There are many other sites which advertise fruit picking work, though huge numbers of people go to Australia every year expecting to do it, to earn good money, and to have plenty of time to do other things. Dream on. It's long hard work for little money which is why many Australians not surprisingly do not want to do it. Like foreign fruit pickers who come to the UK every year.

You will need a work visa if you plan to work in Australia. You might try a work agency in a large town and get a decent job there instead.

Hey, thanks for the advice. I've had my visa granted and all ready to book the fligh. I was on here to see if anyone could advise me where to start looking for work, like those agencies or sites you suggest. Do you know of any? (preferably ones I don't have to pay for! )

I'm aware it's going to be hard work, and I'm all for it to be honest. Met some people when i wss there last year who gave me an insight. I think it can be a gamble as to where you end up and how much money you earn and so on... But if it's not right move on! It's only 3 months and you get to have an extra year in Aus!
I've got a friend who lives in Sydney and he's in recruitment so will probably give that a bash at some point!
Thanks again
