Good question, Greg! I'm not sure if you can get a CR passport stamp or not... I'll be checking into that, but maybe Anne or someone else from Florida may have the answer.

Sealand sounds interesting too. Another item to check out. Thanks for the story!

I got your message Gretchen...I find this very interesting because I am down in Key West every two months or so (when I need some R&R) and I have never heard of this. Although I have seen in many places signs with Conch Republic but I never thought anything of it.

Anyway, I am going to look into this and post a reply tomorrow. I will call them tomorrow, they are closed now (it is 5:30 pm here). I dont think it is a scam but I will find out about the stamp. How funny! I may even get one myself if I can.

Ok everyone. This should answer all the questions about this "Conch Republic" passport/stamp deal. Read this website:

It is nothing but a souvenir as it appears. They dont have offices so there is no place for you to go and get "stamped". The "passports" are processed by mail and sent to you. I am sure some people have used it but at the risk of being denied entry. At least in South America, if you look foreign enough, you are allowed in since no visas are needed from most other countries to enter their countries. I hope this was helpul. :)

Thanks Anne!!!!!!!! (You're the greatest for taking time away from work for this!)
I know that the passports are not truly VALID passports, though other countries are not aware of this so they allow entry on them. I just want one for the hell of it! As stated in one of my earlier responses, have a REAL passport with you.

Will check out the link in the morning - my stomach says it's time to think about food again so going to hunt down some rice noodle soup!

Hope this helps you out Greg!

Anne, how long will you be gone? I'm sure you won't be back in time for the CR Independence Celebration at the end of April... I think a friend on mine might be on the entertainment list (but I have to check) - Steel of the Night reggae band out of Indiana. Go fig!

Thanks again!

When I went to the Conch Republic wesbite, I was kind of disappointed that I wont be here for it. I would have loved to go down there for it. I am actually going to Key West (and heading for a day to Dry Tortugas) at the end of May. I will be gone from April 26th through May 16th (I need more time!!!) and hopefully I will get to see the main things in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. It will be a go go go type of backpacking vacation. I am used to it, I actually love the fact that I only need few hours of sleep (like Wocca) when I am away. The adrenaline and excitement of being some place different keeps me going.
When I get back on May 16th, my cousins from Germany will be here for three weeks!!! So I planned one weekend in Key West, one weekend in New York and one weekend in Orlando. I dont even want to think how I am going to feel physically by the end of May, beginning of June when they leave. I am exhausted just thinking about it.
Anyway, that is my reward after a hectic tax season, every May I go some place far away...really far away.

Ok everyone. This should answer all the questions about this "Conch Republic" passport/stamp deal. Read this website: :)

Both this and the Conch Republic site state the CR passports are not valid (which has already been established). I have yet to find anything pertaining to CR passport stamps.

Since there are CR (mock) postage stamps and currency, one would think there would be a passport stamp also. Possibly it can only be obtained by purchasing one of the passports. I think it's time to call the CR Prime Minister!

I am going to try to find out when I go in May, if in the meantime I cant find anyone in their "offices". There is an address there so I will try to see what they are all about and the stamps/passports issue. I am really curious now...

Did you see in the Celebration line-up where they're going to unveil the NEW CR flag? We have a 3'x5' CR flag (the currently available one) hanging in our upstairs hallway. I want one of the new ones!!!!!!!! Well, maybe I should wait to see what they look like before making such a bold decision...

Good luck on the quest for answers!! I'm still thinking of calling the CR PM.

Yes, there are Conch Republic passports. They are not real. They are for fun. There is an office. It's on Petronia Street...I think. I do live here, and yes, I have been to the office. It's not intended to be serious. No, there is no Conch Republic stamp. This is not a country, therefore, no stamps. You do not have to go through customs to get here. Customs is where you get "stamped". Hope this helps. And NO, I would not pay for one of these souvenirs. Oh, and pardon my spelling!

I had never heard of this before! Singlehandedly the most random thread ever. Brilliant work false passport making, flag unveiling, independence celebrating folks. I love it.

Can that guy put "Former Prime Minister of the Conch Rep." on his resume? THATS the big question.

I Love the craziness of it all, I would be all up for the TP Nation idea. There are many unhabited islands off Ireland. At which point does a rock jutting from the Atlantic become part of Ireland? Is there a size requirement before it is an Island? Never thought about this before and now theres a can open and worms are going everywhere......
