There are several roadblocks and strikes in Bolivia at the moment. The center of the block are in Potosi, and strech via Uyuni up to La Paz. Apperently it is possible to go from chucubamba to La Paz. The last I heard there are blocks from Santa Cruz as well.
I am stuck in Sucre and will stay here for a few days. The people here say that it can last from a few days till months, they don't know.
And yes, this is quite common for this country, but why don't we help eachother out sorting out rumors and stuff while waiting? Surely there are other people in this forum in Bolivia as well?
Enjoy the wait, guys!
A friend told me about a good meeting location in Sucre Boliva: the Joy Ride, owner's name is Gert.
"Right off Sucre's Central Plaza (Plaza 25 de Mayo) opposite the cathedral you'll find the Joy Ride Café"
Have a good time, cheers
The gringo-way out...
Well, the blocks are still active and most of the roads going anywhere in Bolivia are shut down. Nobody seems to know how long this can last.
I am currently in Sucre, but catching a flight to La Paz this afternoon. Some say that the airline might be closing down soon as well and that these blocks can last for weeks.
Well, I´ll let you know when it opens. Does anybodu know if it is possible to get into Bolivia? And out, crossing the Peruvian border?
I'm flying to Peru tomorrow and expect to be travelling to La Paz in about 2 weeks time to stay with a friend. PLease can u guys who are out there just now keep me up dated on these road blocks. I'm travelling alone and nervous enough about that as it is without getting stuck!! haha! Thanks jessica x
No more roadblocks, they ended on thursday! Some negotiation went through! Same president, same roads, now open for traffic!
