Hi,

My friend and I are to the US in 2 weeks. We were thinking about buying a pre-paid US sim card when we are over there. Is this easily done, or should we organise for a Travel Sim before we go.

Thanks, Kali :)

Welcome to the States. I hope our crazy weather cooperates for you. I spoke to a couple of UK guys at a hostel we stayed at this weekend. They said they got their SIM card at our local WalMart. However, he said you may want to compare prices of what your TravelSim is and www.walmart.com website to see if it may be cheaper to buy before you go. Good luck and Happy Travels!

Hi Kimee :)

We hope it does too, do you think it would rain a bit? Thank you, that'll be so much help!

I didn't research it a whole lot before our recent trip, but my conclusion was that AT&T was pretty good for my iPhone. Mainly because I wanted a decent data plan with it and apparently their speeds are pretty ok. Problem being that they don't generally sell the micro Sims for prepaid customers.. oops.

So the workaround is to either buy a regular sized sim card and cut it down, or alternatively, what I did was buy one off eBay. I wished I'd done it before I left so I could have had it before going. Getting it sent to me in the US was a bit of a pain.

All that said, there could be other companies with good deals at Walmart, etc.. that might be just perfect. Kind of makes sense that there would be :)
